The Sacramento Region is home to rushing rivers, gorgeous rolling hills, world-class mountains, and valleys with rich fruit-bearing soil. Yuba-Sutter NextGen Transit Plan
Yuba-Sutter Transit is undertaking an exciting project to analyze the current transit system, gather community input and reimagine the system to better meet the transportation needs of each community that we serve. With your help, the NextGen Transit plan will identify new innovative solutions to improve the convenience and efficiency of the services offered, resulting in faster and better access to jobs, schools, healthcare, and shopping
Flood Safe Yolo 2.0
As a result of recent flooding events in 2017 and 2019, Yolo County identified a need for a more comprehensive approach to flood prevention. With funding, the County revived the Flood Safe Yolo program from 2007 as a new program – Flood Safe Yolo 2.0. The new program is designed to minimize the risk from flooding in Yolo County through strengthened drainage system maintenance, construction of system wide drainage improvements, additional mapping and studies, and support for flood-friendly farming practices.
Green Means Go: Greenhouse Gas Reduction Pilot Program
Green Means Go is a multi-year pilot that aims to lower GHG emissions in the six-county Sacramento region by accelerating infill development, and reducing and electrifying vehicle trips. Projet funding will be directed to locally-nominated Green Zones, areas that SACOG, cities, and counties have identified for infill development in their local plans and strategies. In addition to reducing vehicle emissions, the pilot will also stimulate economic development and improve quality of life in the region.

Caldor Fire Tribal Native Plant Restoration Project
In collaboration with tribal partners, this project will reduce fuels (via hand felling/thinning/piling, chipping) and re-establish native plants at culturally significant areas and sensitive plant sites that burned in the 2021 Caldor Fire.
Regional K-16 Education Grant Collaboratives Program
The Sacramento Collaborative brings together partners throughout the region to improve student outcomes and career preparation. This will be achieved through investment in structures that support student preparation for college and transitions between educational institutions, the development of a regional data sharing system, and targeted support for historically underserved students. The Collaborative will also expand pathways in Engineering and Healthcare to meet the region’s workforce needs.
Auburn Bowen Community Plan
The Auburn Bowman Community Plan lays out the creation of a healthy and sustainable community that maintains a balance between jobs, housing, and community space. In June 2021, Placer Co. was awarded $337K by SACOG’s REAP Program to update the Community Plan. The update will identify critical infrastructure improvements needed to support the community envisioned housing supply, improve the clarity of the existing document, and support Placer’s efforts to remove implementation barriers to housing construction.
